STEEPEST DESCENT

Vienna 2025 Meeting

April 27th, 2025. Registration coming soon

 ABOUT

Steepest Descent is a yearly half-day meeting that gives the European geomorphology community the opportunity to hear keynote talks and to interact with the community in an informal setting. The meeting began in 2013 as the younger, European cousin of the Gilbert Club meeting that is traditionally held after the annual American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting.

Since its inception, Steepest Descent has been held each year in Vienna alongside the European Geoscience Union (EGU) meeting. The meeting is organized by an ever-evolving team of Early Career Scientists (ECS) and is fully independent from other organizations.

Vienna 2024 Meeting

Thank you to all participants who attended the 2024 Steepest Descent meeting in Vienna. We had the pleasure of listening to two excellent keynote talks, catching up with colleagues, and meeting fresh, new faces. We thrive as a meeting thanks to community support and attendance, and we look forward to seeing you in Vienna next year for Steepest Descent 2025!

 THE ORGANIZING TEAM

The organizing team of Steepest Descent continues to change since the inception of the meeting in 2013. Over the years, the meeting has evolved into a bottom-up approach and is now organized entirely by Early Career Scientists. Meet the current organizing team below and scroll down to see the full list of former organizers and volunteers.

We are always happy to see new, fresh faces on the organizing team, so please email us at SteepestDescentMeeting@gmail.com if you're interested in joining this dynamic group.
